Your Health

Attention Church Members! You have been officially "challenged" by the students of the Wimbish School to participate with them in a competition called the "Walk Across America Challenge." Well, you may ask...what kind of competition is it and how does it work? The students are currently studying the geography of the United States. In order to make the learning process a little more interesting and fun, the students will be wearing pedometers during their physical education period each day to record the distance traveled as they exercise. The miles recorded on the pedometers will be calculated for all the students and transposed to a map of the United States, displayed by a blue line. Their walk will start in Macon, GA and extend to other cities as their geograpy studies allow them to explore other parts of the United States. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to get out there and exercise, record your miles (20 minutes of moderate exercise equates to 1 mile), log your name and number of miles on the log sheet on the bulletin board in the church foyer and encourage your fellow church members to participate, too. Miles accumulated by church members will be transposed onto the map of the United States using a green line. RuthAnn, Stephanie and the students will keep the congregation posted on the competition status, and informed of some of the neat places they visit on their walk as they report their progress. So get out there and walk, or garden, or ride a bike, whatever exercise you enjoy...but keep track of your miles and remember to log them. Let's give the Wimbish School students a "run" for their money! Are "you" up to the challenge!!!

Health Tip: Always remember to drink lots of water to remain hydrated. Water also greatly aids in how well our bodies eliminate toxins. Tea, soft drinks and coffee do not count for water consumption. If you don't like the taste of water, try squeezing a little fresh lemon juice into the water. Your body will thank you!!!
